Melbourne, The Outback, Brisbane, Great Barrier Reef Island, Farmstay, Rainforest Retreat, Sydney

Melbourne is set around the shores of Port Phillip Bay. The city itself, laid out in a large rectangle and boasting a lively and cosmopolitan pulse, sits on the northern banks of the Yarra River, about five kilometres from the bay. From cutting-edge architecture and blockbuster musicals to art exhibitions and popular festivals, Melbourne is a city where cultural pursuits are woven into the fabric of everyday life. Regional Victoria also boasts a flourishing arts scene, with impressive galleries, museums, and heritage buildings.

One of the best-known sights of Australia is "the largest pebble in the world", Ayers Rock or Uluru, as it has always been known to the local Aboriginal people, to whom "The Rock" has immense spiritual importance. They are the custodians of this important site, rich in mythology, with caves that are still off-limits to uninitiated people: there are signs warning visitors. Uluru has acquired its reputation not just because it is such a unique landform, but also because of the effect the sun has on its colours and appearance. Sunrises and Sunsets cause changes to its colour from browns though oranges, reds to finally grey. The best colour effects occur on overcast days.

Brisbane has shucked its reputation as a backwater and emerged as one of the country's most progressive centres. It has several interesting districts, a good street cafe scene, a great riverside park, a busy cultural calendar and a thriving nightlife.

A true coral cay right on the World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef. Here you can swim straight off the beach to an endless garden of coral where the waters are literally teeming with beautifully coloured fish and marine life. It's what you don't see around the island that makes the resort so special. You won't see any buildings above the tree line. And you won't bump into any daytrippers either.

Situated on a 10,000 acre working cattle station in the Scenic Rim of South East Queensland country just an hour's drive from Brisbane and the Gold Coast, the farmstay offers an exclusive Outback Australian accommodation getaway. The Outback Farmstay is a complete accommodation getaway with everything from bushwalks, orienteering and abseiling, to massage and beauty treatments and fine dining

The Rainforest Retreat is 930 metres (3,000 feet) above sea level and enjoys cool mountain air (for cooler days and nights in summer) and has spectacular views which go forever. Lamington National Park is home to a vast array of unique flora and fauna. A bird lover's paradise.

Sydney is Australia's oldest city, the economic powerhouse of the nation and the country's capital in everything but name. It's blessed with sun-drenched natural attractions, dizzy skyscrapers, delicious and daring restaurants, superb shopping and friendly folk. Choose from the many optional tours that are available.

It is said to be the southern hemisphere’s largest open-air market offering a variety of fresh farm produce and, on Sundays, a wider range of merchant items which turn the market into a modern Arabian Nights bazaar. Aside from the variety of wares offered at the Queen Victoria Market, buskers and street entertainment are a market feature, particularly on Sundays when Queen St is closed and becomes a place of cafes, carnival rides and other activities. And there's always the sound of spruikers cajoling visitors into buying their goods, and you can haggle for the best prices you're able to get.

The Queen Victoria Market trading hours are 6am to 2pm on Tuesday and Thursday; 6am to 6pm (with the general merchandise section closing at 4pm) on Friday; 6am to 3pm on Saturday; and 9am to 4pm on Sunday.
