Australia Wildfires: Wildlife Donations

The impact of the bushfires on Australia’s precious wildlife and their habitat is difficult to comprehend.  Wildfires have long been a part of bush-life in Australia and the rebound process has been built into the evolution of Australia’s flora.  Several native species of plant life won’t even go to seed unless touched by the infernal blaze of a fire.

But the scale of the current cycle of fires is unprecedented.  If you, like us, feel the need to help the unique wildlife in Australia, please use the links below.  We have vetted and donated to the following organizations.  We can certify that these organizations are going to use your donation most effectively to help the wildlife in Australia.

Hanson Bay Wildlife & Koala Sanctuary

Kangaroo Island’s beloved Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary was sadly decimated by the bushfires. The 5,000 acre property was home to thousands of native species including the incredible population of koalas that were free to roam wild on the property. This fund will be used to rebuild and regenerate the land. Help to rebuild the sanctuary so the injured animals have a home to return to.

Zoos Victoria

Zoos Victoria has been directed by the Victorian Government’s Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning to provide front-line veterinary support and long-term care to the wildlife affected by the bushfires. They have set up a dedicated fund with 100% of the donations going towards the impacted animals, including endangered species to provide urgent support and explore long-term solutions such as supplementary feeding and habitat restoration.

The administration of this fund is by a legal firm in Adelaide pro bono so 100% of the money raised through the Kangaroo Island Mayors Bushfire appeal will go directly into the hands of islanders that need it most. This will help people directly impacted by the devastation caused by the fires and will help them face each new day with financial assistance to rebuild their lives, homes and businesses.
