Going to Australia

Travelers are reminded that it is your responsibility to ensure you meet the requirements of the airline you are traveling with and any countries you transit through.

Here’s what you need to visit Australia:

  • Proof of full vaccination
  • Complete Australia Travel Declaration 7 to 3 days before your flight.
  • Required masking on the plane and in all Australian airports.
  • Rapid Antigen test within 24 hours of arrival and self-isolation until a negative result is received.
  • Valid visa to enter Australia

Proof of Full Vaccination

You will need to provide proof of vaccination in the form of a paper or digital certificate. If you have your paper card CDC vaccination card, you can use this to enter Australia. If you have lost your card or if you are interested in obtaining a verified digital certificate of your card to ensure you have a safe and secure back up, please click here to find out more information.  If possible, we do recommend a digital certificate for stress free travel. It will allow you to pull up your verified record in the event you lose your card while traveling.

Are you considered fully up to date on your vaccines? If you’ve followed CDC guidelines, the answer is yes! If you have a more complicated story, click here to find out.

Digital Travel Declaration

All inbound travelers must complete an Digital Travel Declaration (DTD) at least 72 hours before to departure. This is a form that may be filled out online on your mobile device by downloading the Australia Digital Travel Declaration app from the App Store (Apple) or Google Play store (Android). You may also fill out the form online on a desktop computer here. When filling out the DTD, you will need to provide your contact details, declare your vaccination status, declare your last 14 days travel history, and acknowledge quarantine and testing requirements that apply when entering Australia.

When to Wear a Mask

You must wear a mask for the duration of your flight while traveling to Australia,, and in all Australian airports. A cloth or surgical mask is acceptable. You may remove your mask to eat and drink, or if directed by an airline or government official. Children ages 11 or younger and anyone with a medical condition that prevents them from wearing a mask and can provide a medical certificate as evidence do not need to wear a mask.

Testing on Arrival

Testing and quarantine requirements differ by state and territory, however most states require a Rapid Antigen COVID-19 test taken within 24 hours of your arrival. You must self-isolate until you receive a negative result from your test taken after your arrival. You can bring an at home test with you and take the test as soon as you arrive in Australia.

Testing and quarantine requirements differ by state and territory. To check if you will be subject to quarantine on arrival visit your local state or territory’s website:

Traveling with Children

Children under 12 are considered fully vaccinated, meaning they may travel without a vaccination. However, it is recommended that if your child is able to get vaccinated, that they do so before they travel. Children 12 years and older will need to meet the same testing requirements as adults.

To Return to the USA

As of June 12, 2022, air passengers no longer need to get tested or show documentation of recovery from COVID-19 prior to boarding a flight to the United States regardless of vaccination status or citizenship. Please note, the CDC’s Order requiring proof of vaccination for non-citizen non-immigrants to travel to the United States is still in effect. For more information, see COVID-19 Vaccination Travel Information on the U.S. Department of State’s travel website.

Amazing Trip

So glad About Australia and Koda could make my dream come true. Such an incredible trip. Managed to accomplish so many things: Great Barrier Reef, Tjapuka dinner show, whitewater rafting, Wildlife Dome (picture holding koala bear), shopping, Blue Mountain tour (feeding and petting kangaroos), seeing 3 Sisters, using 2 day Harbour Pass to visit most stops, walking the Harbour Bridge and Rocks District, Sydney Opera House, Whale Watching Tour, couple of massages, and more shopping.
