Day 2 - Shuttle Transfer, Brisbane Airport to Gold Coast Accommodation

Travel by shuttle from Brisbane Airport to your Gold Coast vacation accommodation. (Estimated travel time is 1.5 hours.)

Luggage is limited to 2 suitcases per person. Excess luggage, surfboards & bicycles will be carried at a rate of $10.00 AUD per item. All luggage must be clearly labelled by the passenger, including name and full address. Need to Know: As a guide, the recommended height of a guest to be able to safely and securely hold a koala is 140cm (4’6″); The size, age, weight and temperament of the koala working on the day is a determining factor to ensure the welfare of both guests and animal; Any other variables as determined by Koala Handler that would compromise the safety of themselves, guest or koala on the day.

When a Koala Handler determines a guest will require assistance with holding a koala one of two options will be offered: A Tree photo. Meet and greet your koala. Koala will safely sit in fork of tree prop and guest can stand next to koala and stroke its back for a professional photo. Professional family/group photo. Meet and greet your koala. A suitable member of the family/group can hold the koala whilst other guest/s can stand next to koala stroke its back for a professional photo.

You have your pick from action and adventure, pampering at a spa or follow your hunger on the Food & Wine Trail. Go ahead and dance til the sun comes up at Surfer’s Paradise, venture out to the deserted South Stradbroke Island or head to the lush rainforests of Lamington National Park. With easy access to Mount Tamborine, Byron Bay and the Natural Arch it makes this area the perfect spot to explore the many natural wonders. Don’t hesistate to check out the many beaches each with their own unique flavor!

Optional Day Tour (Not Included) - Natural Bridge Springbrook Tour - Half Day

Visit the World Heritage Rainforests of Springbrook and Natural Bridge in half a day. With so much to offer in such a short time drive from the Gold Coast you can get your Rainforest and Waterfall fix while on holiday. View 5 waterfalls and take in the charm of a cozy Hinterland restaurant for a freshly baked afternoon tea.

The Goondawanna Rainforests have so much to offer only a short drive from the Gold Coast beaches. This small group tour offers a truly personalized experience with no more than 16 people per tour and door to door service from your central Gold Coast hotel. Visit the Stunning Natural Arch waterfall with a fully guided walk from an expert local guide. Learn about the unique flora and fauna of the rainforest as you make you way. From inside the cave see the water cascading through the roof of the basalt cave which has been formed over millions of years.

Continuing the tour, Best of All Lookout offers a view of northern New South Wales and Mount Warning. The walk to this magnificent lookout takes you through one of the few remaining pockets of ancient Antarctic beech forest.

A cozy hinterland restaurant will provide freshly baked scones with jam cream for afternoon tea. Accompanied by a coffee, tea or hot chocolate before heading to the nearby viewing platform to see Purling Brook Falls.

During the journey tour commentary on the area and wildlife is provided along with great scenery of the Numinbah valley. Take in the views of Twin Falls and Rainbow falls from Canyon Lookout on the way home. On the return journey to the Gold Coast, sightings of kangaroos and the pretty faced wallabies is common as they emerge from their bush retreats to feed on the lush grass in the cooler part of the day.

  • The Surfers Beachfront Markets are an institution, running for the past 23 years. Evening strollers can browse more than 120 stalls featuring mainly handmade or home-grown wares, while enjoying the live entertainment and beachfront location.
  • Set on the Sanctuary’s Village Green, the Sanctuary Markets feature a slew of international street food trucks with live music from 5pm.
  • The Art and Craft on the Coast markets feature more than 150 stalls of handmade fashion, jewelry, homewares, skincare, food, plants and the creative wares of local arts and craftspeople. Many a tourist has snared a unique souvenir during the market’s 20-year history and locals enjoy browsing the stalls on their way to and from the beach.
  • HOTA comes alive on Sunday mornings as locals emerge to stock their pantries for the week ahead. There are more than 80 stalls manned at the Bundall Farmers Markets by local farmers, growers, producers and creators of fine artisan foods. Day 7 - Day Tour, Great Barrier Reef Cruise to Frankland Islands

Today you will experience Great Barrier Reef diving amongst the coral and marine life in the shallow protected waters close to the island, or for certified divers, jump on-board the dive tender for a transfer to our fringing reef and coral garden bommies.

After an informative guided coach transfer through World Heritage rainforest mountains and fields of Queensland sugar cane, the day begins with a leisurely cruise down the magnificent Mulgrave River. Soak in the beauty of the surrounding rainforest, as you keep an eye out for crocodiles and water birds along the mangrove edge.

At the mouth of the river, the Frankland Islands archipelago slowly comes into view and it is only a short open water crossing to our destination for the day.

After disembarking, you will spend your day snorkelling over the amazing variety of corals and marine life that inhabit the area, including an abundance of colourful fish, sea turtles and octopus. The guided snorkelling tour offers a chance to discover and interact with the reef under the guidance of the marine naturalists.

Alternatively, guests can choose to stay dry and join a coral viewing tour from the semi-submersible or glass bottom boat. The guided Island Discovery walk is a must. At the specified time, your shuttle coach will transfer you to Rainforestation, set in 40 hectares of lush gardens and tropical rainforest. Board the amphibious Army Duck for a different look at the rainforest. Insider's Tip: The Esplanade in Cairns

Experience the leisure atmosphere at the playground for locals and tourists alike at The Esplanade in Cairns!

With so many activities available The Esplanade has always been a focal point for this city. This is a place that literally has everything! Take a stroll and do some bird watching on the boardwalk but as you enjoy the views don’t forget to stop off at Foreshore Promenade for a bite to eat at the many available restaurants. Access to The Lagoon is easy here which is set overlooking the Barrier Reef and Trinity inlet and features all year free swimming where you can take a dip in this filtered saltwater lagoon. Let the kids can play in the sandy edges and in the shallow waters while you lounge on the semi-shaded timber decks. For the kids, don’t miss out on the Trinity Bay foreshore playground “Muddy” with equipment for all ages. For the older kids, stop off at the Skate Park to see some skaters and BMXers in action! Whether you decide to take a morning jog, fly a kite or just relax in the large grassy areas for some lunch you will surely enjoy the tropical lifestyle!

If you happen to be in Cairns on a Saturday be sure to check out the Weekend Markets which feature only locally made arts and crafts, clothing and much more. While you’re there listen out for the live music and fun street characters. The market gets into full swing on the promenade (just by the lagoon) every Saturday between 8am – 4pm.
