A short drive from Melbourne lays the Spa Capital of Daylesford. If rest and relaxation is what you need, this is the perfect self-drive getaway within Victoria, Australia.
Drive just 1.5 hours northwest towards Daylesford and Hepburn Springs. Here you will find natural mineral springs, the largest concentration in Australia. This beautiful mountainous and scenic town is well known for its “healing” mineral waters. Here you will find some of the most sought after spas and spa treatments in Australia. There are some local shops within Daylesford worth visiting, head down to Albert and Vincent Streets to see the towne centre. Also be sure to visit the Wombat Hill Botanical Gardens in Daylesford, here you will be granted unparalleled views from the lookout tower. Lake Daylesford is a very short walk from the towne centre. This is a wonderful place for a picnic lunch and walking tracks are all around. You will find rowboats for hire and the jetty is a great place to cast a line and try your hand at fishing. Here is also a restaurant built into the side of the lake a great way to enjoy the scenery of Lake Daylesford.
