About Australia Travel Agency Reviews and Testimonials
From folks just like YOU!
About Australia is a travel agency that specializes in vacations to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji & the South Pacific. We are a wholesalers who contracts directly with the hotels and tour operators in the South Pacific. Because of this and our staff of travel professionals, our clients love us! See what they have to say!
Everything about the trip was executed as planned. Our flights on Virgin Australia were very restful and entertaining and their customer service is excellent. Our accommodations were very nice and convenient and comfortable. Our tours and excursions were the best part of our trip and the ease of travel really (our shuttle service) made the trip one to remember forever. Melbourne, Cairns and Sydney are all amazing cities in their own right. We will always cherish our time together in Australia. My Son will look back at this graduation gift for many, many years to come.
Two women in their 60s traveling for the first time alone in another country for two weeks and absolutely no complaints, except maybe we got tired out from all the things we did. Who could ask for more. Two countries, beautiful scenery, amazing animals, fantastic excursions, 8 major cities and very friendly proud people. More than once we were looking at a map to figure out where we wanted to go ( on our "free days") and always some passerby would stop and say we looked like we needed help and answer any questions. Some bus rides were long, but if you wanted to see everything, and your bus driver was informative, it gave you time to rest. Every detail went without a hitch, once I printed up our itineraries, we would know what time and where to be for the entire day. That was our bible, I did four per page and folded it up into my purse, change to next page when needed. Time was another issue, who knew Australia had a 1/2 hour time zone?! I put my home city and all other cities into my world clock on my phone and finally figured it out, too smart too late!
Joanne is an amazing agent. She worked with us at a quick pace despite the fact that we finalized our plan late.
She did not panic and worked with our requirements exactly the way we wanted.
Throughout the trip there was no glitch. Everything was arranged seamlessly and we are very happy with the service.
We would reconnect about Australia to anyone who wants a relaxed non stressful vacation.
We had to worry about nothing.
The best part was we decided our itinerary and she tailored to our needs. We were not stuck with a fixed program.
Cannot praise them and her enough.
Thank you for making this once in a lifetime vacation so wonderful.
My husband and I just returned from an amazing vacation in Australia this week. We loved every minute of it! We owe a million thank yous to About Australia for guiding us through our planning process and making all the arrangements for the flights, accommodations, and excursions. Everything went so smoothly! We want to send a special thank you to Mandi Crider! She was so gracious and pleasant to work with! She answered all our questions with phone calls and emails. No question was left unanswered. We felt very taken care of during the planning process and during the trip!
My wife and I booked through About Australia to plan our honeymoon to Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji. Our experience was great! Tiffany and the other staff we worked with were very helpful in planning exactly what we wanted. They were able to accommodate all our requests allowing us to completely customize our trip. As expected, things out of anyone's control happened during traveling. About Australia was able to ensure our trip carried on with next to no inconveniences.
Tyler planned an amazing trip to Australia and New Zealand! Everything went smooth from the time we left Newark until we landed back home in Newark. The flights were great, the transfers went smooth, the accommodations were lovely and the excursions were awesome!! Any issues we had were out of everyone’s control and handled appropriately
I would recommend About Australia to anyone who plans on going Down Under!
The tours were great, thank you for the recommendations! At the Wildlife Park, one of the tour guides absolutely made my day with the Koala pictures. Would highly recommend :)
Our travel agent did a marvelous job at preparing an awesome trip for me and my wife for our honeymoon. The accommodations, sights, and trip was beyond our expectations that we certainly recommend this travel agency for those who are traveling to Australia or New Zealand. We are most happy with how are trip was and the process to plan out the trip was smooth and our travel agent was an awesome individual who made it possible for my wife and I to have a honeymoon.
Everything that was arranged went off without a hitch. The hotels were great and the included excursions were amazing. We would like to make another trip. This time to New Zealand.
We could not have asked for a better tour. Everything was arranged so perfectly we didn't have to worry about anything. Our Hotels were in the middle of everything - so it was easy to get out an about. She provided wonderful Tour ideas and arranged our flights in a manner so we could get the most out of each day. I highly recommend Tiffany if you are planning a vacation to Australia.
It was a great trip and i will be useing your company again and ty so much u did a great job for me.
Everything was thought out from beginning to end and every detail taken care of. All the hotels were nice and in good areas to sight see from and near eateries. Each of the tours was exceptional and professional. Loved our trip from beginning to the end. If we travel to the other places they represent we will use "About" again!
Virgin Australia made the lengthy flight enjoyable. The hotel, Breakfree, was in the heart of town, spacious clean comfortable room and front desk staff bent over backwards to assist us with all kinds of requests. The tours were informative and fun. We had time to do a few things on our own, like having dinner at the top of Sydney tower our last night. On the Blue Mountain tour, we even had an impromptu chance to spot an emu in a large field and wound up feeding him apples from our hands. I feel for a five day stay in Sydney, we had a great variety of quality adventures. I'm recommending you to everyone and hope I can return again. I would be happy to also give you more detailed input on the whole trip if you like. I have photos I'll send soon.
We are just back from our Australian visit and we had a wonderful time.
This was our first time traveling to Australia. We had no experience from which to build a plan of where to go, what to do, or how to efficiently organize or sequence our trip. As a result, we worked with Marissa Stroud of “About Australia” who was very attentive and responsive even when we asked questions and sought clarifications after working hours and during weekends.
All her suggestions and vouchers worked flawlessly and were very well sequenced with efficient use of all the available time.. We visited 3 locations, Melbourne, Sydney and Cairns over an 11 day period.
We had the time of our lives. The hotels and “short-stay apts” we’re ideally located and had very friendly staff.
We want to thank Marissa for the super efficient organization of our tour and her selection of tour items and reliable and attentive providers.
It was brilliantly executed on her part.
We have made up our mind to go again sometime in the not-too-distant future and “About Australia” will be our tour organization of choice.
By the way, Australia is a “must see” location. It is a beautiful country with many exciting things to see, great food, and friendly people among its’ many other positive traits.
I was absolutely amazed by Joanne's helpfulness, friendliness, and professionalism. It was like we were a team putting together our recent trip to Australia. The itinerary she put together was custom-made and Joanne and the About Australia team gave my son and I a true "trip of a lifetime!" I've been recommending to anyone who will listen to use About Australia. My wife found them on the web and encouraged me to work with them. I was skeptical at first because I had already planned my own - very low budget plan, but I agreed to give them a shot. Not only did they totally beat the prices I found, but the accommodations and recommendations were absolutely phenomenal. 4.5-5 star accommodations, spectacular arrangements for tours, snorkel trips, crocodiles, rainforest, etc - and transportation arrangements. I can't say enough about how helpful and wonderful Joanne was and I'm thankful to her and About Australia for what they did for me! If you are serious about traveling to Australia
Several of our friends had visited Australia and told us that it was a "must see" destination. Some of these people had gone on sightseeing and cultural tours, while others had gone on nature and bird watching tours. We wanted all of it, so we contacted About Australia and asked them to put together an itinerary for us that would meet our needs. We wanted to tour for 30 days.
We dealt with both Bekah and Paul, and what they managed to put together for us was extraordinary.
The package they put together, utilized more than 40 different service providers. These included hotels, lodges, birding guides, naturalists guided tours, and drivers. They also arranged all our internal flights. When we saw the completed itinerary it looked too good to be true. We would be spending time in major cities such as Cairns, Melbourne and Sydney. We would tour virtually all of Australia's major landmarks including the Sydney Opera House and the Harbor Bridge, the Great Barrier Reef and Uluru. We would also travel with private guides to some of the areas richest in birds and other wildlife. Areas like Kangaroo Island, Bruny Island (in Tasmania) and Kakadu. They say that when something seems too good to be true, it usually isn't true, so it was with a sense of trepidation that we agreed to the itinerary and set out on our adventure.
How did it turn out? In a word "great". The lodges were incredible. We saw and identified well over 300 species of birds. We saw kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, platypuses, dingoes and many other animals in the wild....not in zoos. We also got to see all the cultural attractions that were on the itinerary. Of course, in a 30 day trip, there has to be at least one glitch. The one scheduled event that didn't take place, was a light airplane flight to try to see a certain rare parrot. The vendor had to cancel at the last minute. About Australia showed their integrity by immediately offering to refund the money we had paid for that tour. They are a company that truly stands behind their product.
Every time we go on a trip, somebody says, "That's really the trip of a lifetime". In this case we must agree with them.
We were able to see and do everything we wanted within our time limits, and Joanne was such an asset in helping us figure out what was most important. There were no issues at all on our trip, and everything went smooth and kept us relaxed the entire vacation. Can't recommend this Travel Agency enough!
From the beginning Darin H. listen to every detail my husband shared with him about the kind of experience we wanted. It was seamless from start to finish. We were celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary. With that, Darin designed a once in a lifetime trip that you didn't think could get any better... until the next destination along the journey. The accommodations were out of this world and the recommended stops were awesome. Darin notified each accommodation of the milestone we were celebrating to ensure it was a time to remember. Darin focused on the details so that we could focus on each other and having an anniversary of a lifetime. From Sydney to Port Douglas to the red center at Uluru all the way to Philip Island, About Australia is triple A rated:
Hope you enjoy some of the photos captured along our journey! You have no idea how hard it was to chose only a few of the over 4000 photos taken during our 15 day stay.
There were a few things that we wish we had known ahead of time. We had one flight on JetStar where we were charged for the weight of our carry on luggage at the counter. This was the only time this happened, but it was a $130 surprise. In Uluru, we booked 2 hikes, specifically stating we wanted to hike around the base of Uluru. The hike ended up being a hike TO the base not AROUND the base. The second hike was very similar. So although they were still lovely, they were much less rigorous than we were planning on. However, the rest of the trip was well organized and great. All of our flights, tours, hotel reservations, and transfers worked like clockwork. There were no other surprise charges. Overall, I would work with this company again with just a little more direction. Great trip!
The trip exceeded our expectations. Darin and his team were excellent in helping us plan and execute the many activities. His description of the activities were "right on". We would highly recommend "About Australia" for anyone anticipating a trip to 'Down Under".
The trip more than fulfilled our expectations. The tours and connections went off without a hitch. The wide variety of things we saw were just wonderful. The only problem we had was that given the time schedule, we were on the go constantly and could have used a little more down time between the long tours. But we totally enjoyed our drivers guides and the tours. The Hotels were located just right for convenience and the cities were interesting. Also the trip to Heron Island was a wonderful experience and laid back for some rest time. Also the sea turtles were laying eggs at that time so we had an extra special experience on this stay.
Thank You for setting this trip up for our group of 6 persons. We all had a wonderful time.
Dennis and Fay Austin and our group Duane & Bev Honza and Bill and Gerry Adams
2 weeks in Australia and 1 week in New Zealand. About Australia did an excellent job planning our 3 week vacation for 2 couples... Wish we could have stayed longer in New Zealand... Next Time!!!
We had a wonderful honeymoon trip to Australia and New Zealand planned by About Australia. Layla Berlanga did a wonderful job assessing what kinds of activities we were interested in and scheduled our two weeks very well. We had never been out of the country before and everything went very smoothly! We ended up getting to do everything we wanted to do on our list and more! Layla even took care of booking us tickets to the opera in Sydney Opera House! I would definitely book a trip through About Australia again should we be going back that way in our future.
About Australia provided the information and trip planning that made our trip trouble free
Had a fantastic 3 weeks adventure to New Zealand and Australia. Could have spent 3 weeks more. New Zealand has some of the most magnificent landscapes I have ever seen. Queenstown area is not to be missed. Australia adventure just as awesome. From the cities to the mountains and beaches everywhere a fun time.
My trip to Australia was an unforgettable experience. We went to Tasmania, Melbourne, Kangaroo Island, Adelaide, Cairns and Sydney in 2 weeks. Everything was well coordinated through About Australia. No issues on the reservations. Great experience and highly recommendable. I worked with Frank Marroquin and everything was perfect.
Me and my wife had a wonderful time in Sydney especially the itinerary created by About Australia staff headed by Marissa Stroud. We would love to visit Australia again in the future and recommend it to our friends to visit and enjoy.
The experience was FIVE Star performance. We had 10 days in Australia and 15 days in New Zealand. Our trip was put together with Joanne at About Australia. We had everyday planned ahead and a voucher that spelled out exactly what we would be doing that day. When and who would be picking us up and at what time. We had 30 vouchers and not one was a failure or a miss. We went diving on the Great Barrier reef, Chasing Ice bergs at Mount Cook, White water rafting, visiting farms, tasting wines, and holding Koala Bears along with a long list of fun days. Every pickup was completed and every trip completed as described. All the Hotels were right in the center of the action of that city. We were picked up at the airports and delivered to every Hotel without a problem. Trust me, I do not usually go out of my way to post a review. This one was worth the time to tell you all what a great time we had.
We had a great trip with some minor glitches because of a canceled plane by Virgin Australia. The places we stayed were excellent and we particularly liked the Hanson Bay cabins and the Rose Gums Tree Houses. It was very nice to have laundry facilities in most of the locations. We picked up rental cars twice and found driving in Australia was not a problem as drivers are polite and follow road rules (better than in the US). I gave 4 stars rather than 5 because it would have been good to have had more information before the trip about the places we were staying - i.e., which ones were self catering, which ones provided laundry facilities, etc. and there was some confusion about the last part of our top end tour because our instructions didn't tell us what time we would be picked up and we were still asleep when the bus came at 7:00 am.
My husband and I just returned from a very good adventure in Australia and New Zealand. We spent 5 weeks exploring, learning, trying new foods/drinks, and enjoying these two countries. About Australia helped us set up our transportation, accommodations and special tours. Everything worked like clockwork and we were pleased with EVERYTHING they organized for us.
Everything was perfectly planned and laid out for us. Shout out to Stephanie M for always giving a quick reply and always being extremely helpful and friendly.
I had the most amazing tour of Australia and New Zealand, arranged by Darin and his staff at About Australia. I had researched both countries using travel books and the internet before calling About Australia. I wanted help booking hotels, the rental car, and tours. Darin dug right into my itinerary and helped me focus on a more realistic vacation with even better recommendations and his on-the-spot experiences. He was also careful to fit my budget and time schedule. His experience was great, for example , Darin recommended a tour of Doubtful Sound instead of Milford Sound in New Zealand"s Fiordland National Park (which was recommended by the travel books). The Doubtful Sound tour was amazing and the recommendation was confirmed by passengers who had also toured the Milford Sound.
The actual trip was about 6 weeks long, about 2 weeks in Australia and 4 weeks in New Zealand. The arrangements for the hotels, car rentals, train, air, and special tours went perfectly. I heartily recommend this travel company and Darin.
I was very impressed with the professionalism and efficiency About Australia displayed when arranging my trip to New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji. I had to do very little work/preparation on my end - which was a relief.
I will definitely be using this company again when I decide to revisit the South Pacific.
I highly recommend this team of professionals.
Fiona was very responsive and helped us plan a great trip.
My family and I had a wonderful time in Australia! We all agreed it was by far our best vacation ever because of About Australia and their services and packages we received for our day to day activities. Can't wait to use them again for a trip to New Zealand!
It was amazing, the experience was well worth the cost.
Frank listened to our needs and put it all together. We could concentrate on discovering all we could about the four cities we visited without worrying about travel concerns. Tom's favorite was the penguin parade at Phillips Island. My top memory is the Field of Lights with dinner under the stars. Wonderful trip!
“About Australia” has to be the most wonderful group of people to deal with. From the beginning to end my trip was wonderful!
The flight over there was great ( be it a bit long....LOL ) The hotel was superb and very nice people there. From the moment I arrived they were helpful.
And it was near Circular Quay which is where the Opera House is and a whole lot more. Walking distance. All the tours that were set up, and what I did on my own was wonderful.
Then off to Ayers Rock. This was my bucket list item I have had for a long time. It was just as I thought it would be and more. That whole tour was well done. Then Alice Springs.... a surprise for as it was a lot larger than I expected....but so educational....I loved it.
Then off to Brisbane..... and staying with friends. Also great.
All I can say is thank you all for you’re planning for me. It will never be forgotten.
PS I met some wonderful fellow travelers.....
Our agent, Ana, was able to get us a great vacation on relatively short notice. Should we ever do a return trip, we'll definitely use this company again.
I went to Australia and New Zealand for 3 weeks in August/September 2013. It was a trip of a lifetime! About Australia made everything so easy. They booked my flights, hotels, transport, and activities. Everything was so well done! Ashley Donaldson did a great job spending time with me to figure out what activities we wanted to do. She had videos to share with me and shared her personal experiences. It was comforting to know that she was so knowledgeable about every aspect of my trip. Ashley provided information about the customs of each country, so we knew what to expect every step of the way. When we had weather issues with a helicopter tour, About Australia provided a full refund for that activity and responded quickly while we were overseas. I can't say enough great things about this company! I came back this year to book my honeymoon with them and will continue to recommend About Australia to anyone looking to travel in the Pacific!
My husband and I booked our honeymoon trip to New Zealand and Fiji through About Australia and were fortunate to have a great travel agent, Darin! He organized our entire itinerary with activities, drop offs/pick ups, hotel accommodations etc. and did a great job. The trip was awesome, even though we did miss one or two of our already paid for activities haha! Would definitely recommend About Australia to anyone traveling to an unknown country/continent :)
We had the opportunity to go to Australia on short notice. Frank at About Australia helped us plan our 10 day trip in less than two weeks. The trip was amazing!
She answered every question I had in a timely manor and was very professional. For what we booked and experienced it was a very good deal. We did have a few hiccups due to companies actually in AUS, and our last hotel was not within walking distance to our tour, which we had to miss, which was About Australia's mistake. Overall, a very good company that id recommend to people and would definitely use again. I just recommend doing some research about where you want to go and what you want to do, and be very specific about what youre looking for in this vacation when contacting the company. My consultant was Lupita Harris, and she was excellent!
I'll definitely contact them for my next trip to Australia!
When my husband and I decided to plan a trip to Australia, NZ, and Fiji, we were a bit overwhelmed with all of the details. Stephanie at About Australia was an amazing resource! She helped us plan a truly once in a lifetime experience. She guided us on possible excursions to do, but she also gave us the reins with scheduled free days and some ideas of our own. The accommodations and flights she booked for us worked out perfectly. It was the perfect blend of activities and downtime to explore all of the cities we visited! Hard to say what our favorite place or experience was- there are too many to choose!!!
About Australia took so much of the stress out of planning our trip that we simply were able to just enjoy ourselves. It truly was the trip of a lifetime, and much of that had to do with knowing the places we stayed and the activities we did were already vetted and came highly recommended. Thank you to Stephanie and the entire organization for helping us fulfill our dream of visiting such amazing countries!
We had the pleasure of working with the folks at About Australia for our trip there several years ago. The experience was one of a kind and one day we will do it again. I highly recommend About Australia as they are professionals of the highest level. And, since they are native Aussies, they are a wealth of information on local sights and events. If you have plans to visit the lovely country of Australia, I recommend you book with the best.
Melanie at About Australia planned the absolute best honeymoon for us! Everything from our flights, the hotels, excursions, and restaurants were amazing! The highlight was definitely the harbor cruise on New Year's Eve in Sydney. We will be recommending anyone planning a trip to Australia, New Zealand or Tahiti to About Australia!
Shuttles, ferries, flights all great. Rooms in Port Douglas were amazing. What a great trip.
The accommodations were excellent (except for one hotel that I will discuss in a separate email). The arrangements for ground and air transportation were all timely and were flawless with no exceptions. The recommendations for sites to see and tours to take were all good and enjoyable. I will highly recommend About Australia to anyone who is considering a trip to Australia or New Zealand.
Would highly recommend About Australia to book your next trip!
The whole process was so painless... all we had to do was get excited about the trip! We visited Sydney, Port Douglas, Ayers Rock, and Melbourne and they were all fantastic. Would defiantly use About Australia for future adventures.
We loved the step-by-step itinerary Joanne created, it really reduced the head ache of having to plan every little detail.
Fantastic trip from beginning to end. The booking went fantastic. My wife, step son and I departed for an adventure aboard the Spirit of Freedom for four days and then some time with family in the Gold Coast. Everything from the smallest details were handled without a single problem or concern. Flights, taxi's and accommodations were the way they should be handled. Without hassle or concern. We had a wonderful trip that is full of memories that would not have happened without the professionalism from the staff at About Australia.
Thank you very much ....... and yes we will be back to enjoy Australia with others looking for a fantastic vacation in the future.
We had a great first time trip to Australia. Darin and About Australia were great to work with. The sites we visited were fantastic. The hotels were excellent. The day trips and operators were first tier. Everything about the trip went smooth and was above expectations. Well Done!
About Australia made it easy to plan our trip to Australia and included everything we needed, ensuring we did not miss any of the most popular attractions. We absolutely loved our trip and are already talking about going back.
I did so much and more outside of my package. I especially had so much fun in Melbourne at the Australian open. I attended more days than I paid for. I did Puffing Billy along with a drive around the Yara River along with 3 wineries. Lunch was great! The hotel in Melbourne was ok but understandable because they are undergoing remolding and construction. I also visited the Melbourne Aquarium along with many stops at art galleries.
Sydney was amazing! The hotel was great! I did so much more in Sydney including the Blue Mountains, Aboriginal experience, I also did the Endeavor and numerous stops at Pubs and clubs.
The only thing I didn't do on the package was the hop on hop off because this was scheduled on the same day with the Sydney Opera house but that was ok because I had many tours in the Sydney area. I also went up the Sydney Harbor Bridge and went around Sydney by night. I made lots of friends and everyone was kind.
Overall, the trip was amazing and I can't wait to go back. Next stop is New Zealand and Tasmania. Thank you so much for everything. I enjoyed it and had a blast!!!!
Ashley did such a good time planning everything out and explaining everything we needed to do. I have never been on a vacation that went flawless and made our vacation a true vacation. Thank you so much Ashley and About Australia.
We just got back from a fantastic trip to Australia! We loved it all. I was apprehensive at first about not having a guide with us all the time, but was grateful for the freedom it gave us and the opportunity to really explore the three cities. The Hotel locations were right in the center of town. Once oriented to the location it was easy to get to anything we wanted to see. This was especially true of Melbourne where the intra city trams were free and the cost for a day pass to go farther afield was minimal. We went and found Rippon Lea Estate a National Trust Property in the suburbs where the 'Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries' were filmed, along with Brighton Beach and the St Kilda Esplanade in our explorations. The Australian's are very friendly and helpful to visitors. The only drawback is I wish now we had had more time in each city because there is just so much to see. The weather was a little chilly in Melbourne and Sydney but it was similar to San Diego or San Francisco during the winter and did not slow us down. The tours we went on were all top notch and all of the transfers went off like clockwork except when we first arrived at Melbourne Airport the plane was a little late and the transfer folks were not at the location arranged. But we were able to call and got picked up right away. We met a few others on the tour and others on the same tour but that had started at Sydney instead of Melbourne which we each shared our discoveries with
Melanie Brown was our agent and she provided multiple options for us to choose from and tailor our perfect vacation! I was admittedly nervous about planning a huge trip like this via online and long distance, but whenever I got Melanie on the phone, she described everything to my understanding. The itinerary and vouchers were detailed and were so helpful. I didn't have to worry about what/when/how my family was getting to our next event. We couldn't have planned such a big trip and found the hotels and locations without About Australia! I definitely recommend this company to anyone planning a trip to Australia or New Zealand! Thank you!
Layla did a fantastic job of helping us organize our entire trip with logistics and based on our ongoing discussions, catered the trip to meet our needs. Definitely recommend that if you are going to Australia and New Zealand to utilize Layla and About Australia to plan your trip.
I did everything I wanted to and then more. The only issue was that I had several people working with my bookings since several people left, I was followed up with but just before I left, I emailed one of the agents to see if the cyclone would effect my travels and never heard back from anyone. But overall I had a great trip and I would use about Australia again.
Our connections were timed perfectly and everything went smoothly.
All arrangements flawless and accommodations well placed and very satisfactory. Joanne provided great suggestions and made everything happen as I wanted it.
We had a fabulous time with great experiences. And About Australia got us a great deal on this trip with great conveniently located hotels. The only bad thing about this trip was the incredibly long layovers we had at LAX - 12 hours one way and 6 the other. But we were very pleased with everything else.
My husband and I LOVED our experience working with Darrin who planned our honeymoon to Australia last month. He was very helpful, professional and easy to work with. He put together an amazing trip that allowed us to relax and enjoy our vacation. Worth every penny!!! I would defiantly recommend using this company!
The hotels chosen were within 1/2 block of the waterfront, they were very nice. The tour packages were great, plus they included some free days to rest or choose my own tours. All in all, it was one of the best vacations I've ever taken. Thank you so much.
They listened to what we wanted to do, and planned a trip to Australia that was an excellent fit with our interests. In fact, Australians along the way were often very surprised by our itinerary in that it took us to many out of the way spots that Australians rarely got to. In particular, our stay at Hanson's Bay on Kangaroo Island was a highlight of our trip. We also enjoyed visiting Tasmania, and Freycinet National Park. Mooloolaba was an excellent place to use as a base to visit the marvels of the sunshine coast, although not sure that the trip to Frasier Island was worth the time or expense. Also, if you want to see Kangaroos by the dozens, visit Halls Gap and the Grampians National Park! We chose not to go to the Great Barrier Reef as we were concerns about the jelly fish that tend to be prevalent in the summer, and we also chose to avoid the heat of the Outback so did not take the time to visit Ayers Rock. We appreciated the frank advice from About Australia in helping us make these planning decisions. We also loved our "unwinding" stay in Fiji at the Tropica Resort - what a wonderful way to end a splendid trip. We would recommend About Australia to anyone wanting to plan an individualized itinerary to either Australia or New Zealand (which we visited 4 years ago with About Australia's advice.)
Wasn't even sure where to begin planning at trip to Australia so of course I searched the web for a travel agent. I found About Australia and read all the great reviews. I called them and they took care of my plans so graciously. I was meeting my husband in Brisbane because he was coming from India after working there, and they coordinated with all of his prearranged flights. I told Rebekah what we liked and were wanting to do (so many choices...can be overwhelming) and she sent me info and answered all my MANY questions. We only had about 10 days to spend there and so we crammed a lot of things into those 10 days. We traveled from Brisbane to Cairns, then to Sydney and finally back home to Texas. We snorkeled at the reef and saw lots of sea turtles, blue starfish, giant clams and much more. We sand surfed at Tangalooma and fed dolphins. We held koalas, we fed kangaroos and lounged with them too! We jungle surfed (zip line) in the rainforest, we did the canopy walk at Daintree. We stopped to see Malanda Falls and then swam at Josephine Falls...that is a MUST DO! We saw the giant Curtain Fig (must see). We went to 3 different wildlife zoo/sanctuaries and they were all wonderful. We had amazing guides while we were there that were very personable and helpful. They made stops on our excursions that were bonus stops. Go to The Humpy in Tolga if you are out that way...gourmet peanuts, macadamia nuts and other yummy things. That was all in Queensland. In Sydney, we saw the Opera House and had the 1 hour tour (that building is AMAZING!) It was also the 100th anniversary of ANZAC Day while we were there so that was pretty special. We went to the Blue Mountains and Jenolan Caves and also did a hop on/off harbor boat tour. We had a great trip and couldn't have done it without Rebekah and the About Australia group. MANY THANKS REBEKAH!
The trip was just right for the type of active trip we wanted. The schedule allowed us to do and see so many things in both Australia and New Zealand. We could not have coordinated the logistics ourselves and it was nice to know that we could count on the vendors selected for tours, etc. Darin Hendry did a really great job listening to what we wanted and adjusting the trip as needed. Highly recommend them. It was an epic trip!
We really enjoyed our Australia vacation, especially our visits to Sydney, Melbourne, and Port Douglas. Everything went smoothly - no problems with travel arrangements, and the accommodations were comfortable and spacious. Our snorkel/scuba trip to the Great Barrier Reef was wonderful. Thanks to About Australia for helping us plan the trip of a lifetime!
We’ve now been back from our 18-day Australian travels for almost a week. We would like to tell you how pleased my husband and I were with the itinerary, accommodations, and tours Mandi, our Destination Specialist, put together for us. Overall, the pacing was just right. We had adequate free time in each location (of course, would always welcome more), balanced with more structure with organized tours. Every shuttle and tour bus showed up right on time. We couldn’t believe how low-stress it all was!
We were very happy with all the hotels, especially the Meridian in Port Douglas. Rydges in Adelaide could use a bit of work (such matters as worn carpets) but the friendly, helpful staff more than made up for it.
The 3-day river cruise on the Murray Princess was a blast. Definitely a pace and venue best suited for seniors, but that’s what we are! It provided a wonderful opportunity to converse with and get to know some delightful Australian individuals. We were the only Americans on the boat! It was a pleasure to find that Aussies are, without question, the friendliest people we have experienced in all our travels. That was probably the best factor of the whole adventure!
We also want to express our great appreciation for how Mandi and her manager at AboutAustralia immediately responded to us, after business hours no less, when we were in a panic after missing our flight from Adelaide to Melbourne. It occurred because of our own error in reading the itinerary and threatened to complicate our flight back to the US. While the airlines was not being terribly helpful, AboutAustralia resolved the problem situation in no time. It was the only stressful event we encountered throughout our travels in that delightful country. We can't thank you enough for the terrific services you provided.
We decided to spend our Honeymoon in Australia, but weren’t quite sure how to book, and manage such an extensive trip. After doing some research online, we came across About Australia. We decided to send them an E-Mail, and see what would come of it. A woman by the name of Fiona wrote back to us almost immediately, and promptly sent us a questionnaire in regards to what we wanted to see, and where we wanted to go. We simply checked off what we wanted to do, and about one week later, we received our own private itinerary! We were astonished at how fast Fiona had gotten back to us! We looked over the itinerary, made hardly any changes to it, and decided to book our Honeymoon! It was wonderful knowing that we were taken such great care of, and no matter the questions we had, they were always answered in a timely, and friendly fashion.
Once we arrived in Australia, we followed every direction on our itinerary, and were never lead astray. Every shuttle that Fiona had booked for us arrived on time, the adventures that we went on held up to our expectations, and we had no issues with our domestic flights, as well as our international flights to, and from the U.S. We couldn’t have asked for a better Honeymoon!
Thank you, About Australia! You truly gave us the Honeymoon of a lifetime! We’re hoping to visit again, some day!
About Australia was very helpful in taking the hassle and worry out of our trip to New Zealand and Australia. I'm very glad to have used this travel company. I was very impressed with the quality of hotels. Melanie, my agent, was a gem.
My husband and I visited 5 locations in New Zealand and Australia over two weeks. The trip was planned out very well and we had no issues with flights, transfers or tours.
Fiona did an amazing job putting together every sight seeing excursion , cultural events, transportation...etc. Everything we requested or wanted to see was included. Didn't want to come back. I will definitely go through About Australia for any future trip to Australia and the neighboring islands. I would not have been able to plan this trip without them. Thank you so much.
Our trip went flawlessly. Tiffany (our travel agent) arranged all the flights (nine airplanes total), every shuttle to and from our hotels, all of our accommodations, and most of our tours. Everything worked like clockwork! From picking up our rental car, to catching the ferry... I couldn't believe with all the moving around we did in Australia how perfectly thought out and well timed everything was! And all within our budget! Every room even had an ocean view! I loved the airline and everywhere we stayed. I would highly recommend About Australia and Tiffany Hans to ANYONE planning a trip to Australia.
Thank you so much for taking all the leg work out of traveling. Your preplanning left me free to just enjoy Australia. Thank you!
We loved our experience working with Stephanie on our trip! We had never used a TA before and we were nervous about letting someone else schedule our vacation, but the trip was flawless and it was an experience of a lifetime.
I was so worried about contacting someone on-line and not knowing anything about them...or anything about Australia or even traveling out of the country...but I am so glad I did! They planned a trip of a life time for me and my family. I know it is due to all their hard work that every outing on our trip flowed smoothly...and we had 7 outings...white water rafting in the rain forest to Bridge climb in Sydney harbor...with no worries or problems. The vouchers were awesome...it gave us all the information we needed...down to the times to be at our pick up spots and what to bring. I highly recommend them, "About Australia", to anyone planning a trip to Australia. They were also helpful before the trip with answering all of our questions and being prompt to our calls and emails.
Thanks y'all! Great Job!!!

Our trip was wonderful. The accommodations were very nice and all the travel arrangements were great.
Josh helped us put together a 2.5 week trip to Australia and Fiji and our trip was absolutely perfect! All of the day tours we went on were small, and locally run which made them even more enjoyable. They took the stress out of planning an international vacation and even helped us work through some visa hiccups.
I can't recommend this company more!!!! They are AMAZING!!!! We took a 2 week trip to Australia for our honeymoon and they took care of everything! They handled all of our flights to and from the US and then all of our flights within Australia, we went to 3 different cities. We had cars/vans pick us up and drive us to our hotels and then back to the airports. Our hotels were top notch. I gave our travel agent Frank and idea of things we wanted to do while there and they handled booking everything and everything was centered around what we wanted to do. I looked at other companies before booking with About Australia and every other company was going to have us on giant tour groups of 40+ people, this was just us so we were free to do our own thing every day. The excursions we booked were unbelievable. We did a Koala Sanctuary, a Great Barrier Reef tour and snorkel, a Daintree Rainforest and Mossman Gorge Tour, a Sydney Opera House Tour, a hop on hop off Harbour River Cruise, and the Sydney Bridge Climb. Aside from the Opera House Tour and the River Cruise all of these excursions were over $100 per person the bridge climb is almost $300 per person. All of these were included in our total price. Now yes I realize that technically we paid for them but not having to pay for them "on site" or while we were traveling saved us BIG! We never would have been able to afford all of it if we had to pay while we were there. Any concerns or silly questions I had Frank answered and gave me all the information. Our visa applications were handled, all baggage fees were taken care of. Our hotels were amazing. And 2 out of 3 had free laundry facilities in our room. 2 hotels had pools/hot tubs/saunas. Our final hotel had a full kitchen. If you are thinking of traveling to Australia...USE THIS COMPANY YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!!! 10 stars!!!!
We had a wonderful time. Everything went smoothly. All assistance was great. Employees went above and beyond to make our trip a success!
The trip was incredible. People were unbelievably friendly. Enjoyed the peaceful serenity of Port Douglas. Am very glad we opted for Douglas instead of Cairns. Meridian Hotel was great. Four Mile beach is a must see (sunrise is fantastic) and be sure to climb Flagstaff Hill. Great Barrier Reef trip was ok, but opting not to go into the water was a mistake. Be sure you can tread water or you will be harnessed into a life vest with mask and snorkel. Brisbane, south bank was great. Walked through the Technical University Grounds and Botanic Garden. Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary (although a bit of a tourist trap)is worth the visit. Be sure to wear shoes that are easy to clean because stepping in kangaroo and emu waste guaranteed. Uluru was very interesting. Accommodations were good, but be aware that everything--food, beverages,... are more expensive as you are 350+ km from anywhere (Alice Springs). Light Display was great. Sydney was interesting. Vivid was still on the the laser show was exciting. Although the accommodations were fine and George St is a great location, there were several massage parlors which seemed to imply the area was a bit sketchy. However, had no problems. The up-side was a great off-track betting restaurant with great fish and chips. Dinner cruise was ok, especially if you drank alcoholic beverages. Asked for a "long black" (coffee) but was told that coffee was not included. Could have all the beer and wine but no coffee?!! No lemon for salmon either. Was not able to do bridge climb. Very pricey but if done doing the week and during the day, affordable. Governor's Palace tour is free and very informative. However, although the Governor was in, we were not granted an audience--just the tour.
My wife and I recently return from Australia on our honeymoon. We worked with Frank from About Australia to design a trip of a lifetime based on the cities we wanted to visit & the experiences we wanted to have. Frank & his team were extremely knowledgeable based on their experiences and responsive via email or phone. Frank recommended hotels and experiences that were awesome! About Australia kept us updated throughout the process on where the booking of all the different items stood (Visas, Shuttles, hotels, flights, experiences, etc).
we just returned from our trip and everything was handled beautifully by this company. Marissa Stroud is our Destination Specialist, she took care of us from day one of booking to the day of our departure. She called me the day of our departure to make sure that we have all the information needed for the trip. Thank you Marissa and the About Australia. You guys are awesome. G'day!
Had a great experience in Australia. Went on all the planned tours except one. All the hotels were of higher quality than expected. The local guides were knowledgeable. Frank at About Australia provided very responsive service. It was a pleasure to work with him.
Incorrperated everything I was looking to see in Aus and NZ! The only difference I would make next time is I would downgrade hotels. Didn’t realize they booked me 4.5 star hotels, I would have been fine with 3 and saved some money but they were very nice!
We recently returned from 2 week vacation planned by Darin. The trip was pretty much flawless. We visited Sydney for our 50th anniversary and my wife's B-Day watching the fireworks in the harbor on a dinner cruise. Spent 3 days in Port Douglass diving the Great Barrier Reef and zip lining in the Daintree rainforest. Our stay at the Matangi Island resort in Fiji was incredible. Probably the best out of all the South Sea Islands we have visited.
We went on an 11 day Australian honeymoon. Everything was great! We stayed in Sydney the first half and had a scheduled yacht tour of the harbor. It was a really nice small group and the tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable. The second half of our trip was spent in Cairns where we had scheduled snorkeling in the great barrier reef and also a scheduled rain forest tour. Both were awesome. About Australia did a great job with everything they booked for us and we got a much better deal than what we found when we looked on our own. The hotels were really nice and in prime locations and we really enjoyed all the tours. They gave us a 1 of a kind honeymoon and I would definitely recommend them to those wanting to visit Australia.
We got to visit from the southern area Sidney in New South Wales, Ayers Rock and Alice Springs in Northern Territory (Outback country) where we got to see Kangaroo in the wild all the way north to Cairns in Queensland (Rain forest) where I got to hold a 4 yr old Koala. Could not have gotten much better. A heart felt thank you to Stephanie Moreno and the work she put in to making our trip memorable.
All of the hotels that were chosen for us were in central locations within walking distance to major sites. The tours and excursions that were chosen for us exceeded our expectations! It was truly a fantastic customized trip! I love that we were able to spend 3 nights in Queenstown, NZ and 4 nights in Port Douglas, Australia! Those towns were the best places to have some free time for optional tours. The tours that we took in each city and town were well planned out. We met so many wonderful people! Thanks, "About Australia " and Joanne for planning a trip of a lifetime!
The hotels were in great locations, everything went smoothly. Loved our day trips.
The recommendations were excellent, the execution (shuttles, hotels, etc.) went without a hitch.
They're there for you every step of the way as well. Thanks for everything.
they are always there to help their customer.
About Australia made our trip a "no worries Mate" adventure in Australia. We highly recommend them and their expertise.
Four of us visited Australia for 10 days and New Zealand for 15 days. We had a simply wonderful time. The 2 countries are exciting and absolutely beautiful. The people are so friendly and helpful! Joanne from About Australia organized the whole trip for us. We told her the cities and areas we wanted to visit and she took it from there! Joanne arranged all the flights, shuttles, hotels, bus trips, tours, and even train trips. Believe it or not, with all the scheduling and organizing that needed to be done, we had no glitches! Everything worked out! She also suggested some other venues and tours that we thoroughly enjoyed. There were a few inconvenient situations that could not be controlled (weather, a little cyclone and a couple of cancellations!. :) When we contacted Joanne, she addressed the situation quickly and informatively. I will definitely recommend About Australia to anybody that is considering a visit to Australia or New Zealand!, George Ternenyi
About Australia was great to work with, our destination specialist Marissa went out of her way to be sure our trip was perfect. She was quick to respond to e-mails and always available when I called. We went on the off season and the cost was unbelievable. We had no problems with any of the hotels, tours, or transportation. It was a great trip.
Everything came off without a hitch. The only problem we had was that 1 month was near long enough! We wish we'd have planned for 2 months!
Ava was so helpful and nice at about australia. Delma, the tour director was excellent. Saw to our every need. Ralph the driver was great as well. I would recommend this trip to anyone!
Namale is breathtakingly beautiful; the food, snorkeling, evening entertainment, service, and more were fantastic. Go!
Everything went smoothly, and everything I got to see and do was amazing!!!
Recently returned from my first trip to Australia, and what a memorable adventure. About Australia not only made the trip smooth and seamless, careful consideration was taken when proposing and planning the trip to my active lifestyle. The first stop of my trip was Cairns.
Cairns is a beautiful city with an exquisite atmosphere. The Esplanade has a beautiful man made lagoon for swimming, highlighted with steel fish sculptures. The boardwalk that lines the harbor is perfect for a morning jog, and has exercise equipment along the way. The opposite side of the street is lined with numerous restaurants which will not disappoint. While in Cairns snorkeling or diving on the Great Barrier Reef is a must do, and is indescribable experience. The Tusa T-6 Dive boat was an amazing vessel, and its staff kind, courteous, and eager to show the treasures just beneath the waves. After viewing the reef the next item to see is the Daintree Rainforest.
The Daintree Rainforest is a World Heritage site. While in the Daintree, I selected to Jungle Surf (Zip line) through the Canopy. A truly unique perspective of the forest as you zip from platform to platform in a very safe and controlled fashion. From some of the platforms you can see the contrast of the sea as it meets the lush forest at it shores. The upbeat staff made learning about the rainforest and its hidden treasures fun, enjoyable, and memorable.
The second city I visited was Melbourne. My first impression of Melbourne was that it was a bustling center with more trolleys than San Francisco. I never hopped on a trolley or took a cab while in this city, and found the best way to see the charm is to walk. From street art and performers to numerous eateries and the night markets entertainment can be found very easily. During my walk I made it to Captain Cook's Cabin, Melbourne Aquarium (Stunning), and the botanical gardens. The next activity was the Great Ocean Road tour which is filled with breath taking landscapes of the southern shore, and a passionate and knowledgeable guide.
Sydney was my last stop. The first activity was riding on an America's cup boat in Sydney Harbor. The crew actively encourage people to hop on the grinders to hoist or trim the sails, and take hold of the wheel and feel the power of this world class boat as it harnessed the wind. The second item on the agenda was surfing at Bondi Beach. Although surf conditions were not ideal due to the wind (can't control the weather), it was a beautiful beach and a must go for any beach lover. The last item was the Sydney Harbor Bridge Climb. While the idea of climbing a bridge may deter the less adventurous, the climb is easily performed by young and old. It provides a unique view of the Opera house, harbor, and the city. The nightlife in Sydney varies from the Circular Quay, Rocks, to Kings Cross, or to the more mellow Darling Harbor which has numerous restaurants /café and the World's Largest IMAX Theater.
About Australia's hard work and dedication to provide a quality and memorable experience, was clearly apparent from the first shuttle transfer to last. I will definitely plan my next adventure with them.
I spent 17 days in 6 different cities in Australia and it was AMAZING and now I am wondering how soon I can go back. Marissa at About Australia helped make the trip from a dream into reality, taking care of all the difficult stuff like the hotels, transportation and domestic flights which made planning the slight seeing trips (which she also provided a bunch of advice and recommendations on) a breeze. Marissa took into account what my budget was, the things that I was interested in and most importantly the fact that I was traveling by myself. She was even able to adjust the schedule to include a side trip to Port Lincoln so I could cage dive with my sharks (high recommend by the way). I have already recommended her and About Australia to everybody I have talked to about my trip and will use her next time I go (hopefully in the near future).
would highly recommend About Australia.. especially Joanne Palanuik.. all the details we're amazing, from our accommodations to the travel within Australia...thank you for making this a trip of a lifetime...
Our experience with JoAnne at About Australia was superb. She listened to what my goals were for our vacation and tailored our time accordingly. I will definitely use About Australia again for our next New Zealand or Australian vacation!
Myself and my best friend went on a two week trip to New Zealand and Australia thru this company. They helped us organize the trip, hotels, travel, shuttles, excersions. It was very well organized, all of the recommended excersions were fantastic, the hotels were excellent choices and very centrally located. I'm very glad I used them. The day we arrived there was an earthquake in New Zealand, this understandably changed a good amount of our plans. Layla was fantastic, helped us rearrange and get new flights and changed things around while we were in New Zealand and last minute. The recommended travel insurance not so much, apparently a natural disaster is not covered... Anyways, they were a fantastic help and I highly recommend them!
Great people - who really care about giving each traveler the best experience of their lifetime! Well worth every penny to use the Best to book your vacation package to Australia or New Zealand! Highly Recommended
About Australia and Darin were great to work with and I have referred several friends . I am looking forward to traveling with About Australia again!
It was so perfectly planned to meet our needs, and having daily vouchers with explicit instructions on where to go and what to do we're ingenious and essential. Our myriad flights, hotels, and tours completely satisfied what we wanted to experience and see, and even exceeded our expectations. There is no way we could have done this on our own. It was the trip of a lifetime, and all within our budget.
Excellent service! Would recommend this organization to anyone considering a trip "down under"!
Had a great trip through Melbourne, Cairns and Sydney. Weather was horrible along the Great Ocean Road, but such are the perils of travelling anywhere, anytime. All logistics were well orchestrated, personnel were pleasant and well informed, and accommodations were excellent.
