Insiders Tip: Sydney Harbour Pylon Museum and Lookout - Brideclimb Alternative

See the fantastic views of the city, the harbour and the world famous icon – the Sydney Harbour Bridge! This is a wonderful alternative if you do not wish to climb the bridge.

Access is via the pedestrian pathway on the Eastern side of the Bridge from the city side (use the Bridge Stairs in Cumberland Street, The Rocks). There are 200 stairs to the Lookout, but on the way up there are 3 levels of exhibits where you will discover the history and construction of the Bridge, the men who built it, and the vision of JJC Bradfield, chief engineer

At the end of (or even before) your visit to the Museum, enjoy the scenery and walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The walk to the North side of Sydney will take approximately 15-20 minutes from the Pylon.

Taronga Zoo is the nation’s leading zoological garden, featuring Australia’s finest collection of native animals and a diverse collection of exotic species.


What makes Taronga something special is its location. It is situated on elevated land along the waterfront, in one of the most beautiful vantage points on Sydney Harbour overlooking Sydney Cove, the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. Taronga Zoo is approximately 12 minutes by ferry from Circular Quay and the CBD. Ferries depart Circular Quay, every quarter past and quarter to the hour and can be purchased at your own expense.



As you zigzag your way along the paths among the animal enclosures, you are able to enjoy magnificent harbour views. The Taronga Zoo has its own jetty and you are able step off the boat and walk directly into the zoo. It is always best to start your tour of the Zoo from the top entrance. That way you’ll be walking downhill facing the harbour. You’ll then be continually surprised as you turn a corner and catch a different vista of the horizon. Then, when you reach the bottom you can catch the Zoo Sky Safari chair lift to take you to the top again and begin your downhill trek along a different path.

Sky Safari cable car operates between the Zoo wharf and the Top Entrance from 9:30am to 5:00pm daily. Taronga Zoo is open every day of the year from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Boarding the coach, it’s a short drive to the sacred site of Kuniya Piti. Once there, you’ll be captivated as your Guide shares the secrets of the sacred sites. As you follow your Guide on the Kuniya Walk you’ll hear stories of the Anangu, passed on through many generations.
Continue around the base of Uluru to the Mala Walk. Here you’ll see some of the sacred sites where Aboriginal communities live and prepare for ceremony. Some believe that as you walk through this area, you’ll be surrounded by the spirit of the Mala Tjukurpa – the hare-wallaby people.
The vision of a powerful waterfall in a desert setting is really something to see, particularly after rain when the water flows from the side of Uluru and plunges into Kantju Gorge.
After a short rest break, continue along the Lungkata Walk, where your guide will tell you the Tjukurpa story of the cheeky Blue Tongue Lizard!
The Mutitjulu Waterhole is a valuable source of water for the Aboriginal people in the area. Here you’ll see wonderful Aboriginal rock paintings and learn about the Aboriginal and European history of Uluru. Complete your walk at Kuniya Piti, where you’ll board your coach and receive a certificate of your achievement – walking the base of Uluru!

Learn about the local flora and fauna as your skilled guide shares insights into the landscape around you. Take in spectacular views of the everchanging reds and oranges of Uluru as the sun begins to set.

Access to The Lagoon is easy here which is set overlooking the Barrier Reef and Trinity inlet and features all year free swimming where you can take a dip in this filtered saltwater lagoon. Let the kids can play in the sandy edges and in the shallow waters while you lounge on the semi-shaded timber decks. For the kids, don’t miss out on the Trinity Bay foreshore playground “Muddy” with equipment for all ages. For the older kids, stop off at the Skate Park to see some skaters and BMXers in action! A 90 minute journey to the outer reef will see you arriving at the first of the day’s two sites, selected from a range of 15 from coral gardens to caves and canyons to walls and drop offs, many of which are exclusively owned by the tour operator. Sites are chosen as the optimum locations for the weather conditions, and change daily, so each day will bring you a whole new underwater adventure! Diving (Certified and Introductory) and snorkeling are all on offered at the reef, where 5 hours allows plenty of time to enjoy water and topside activities.

Introductory Dive: Participants are required to complete a medical questionnaire upon boarding. A history of asthma, diabetes, and epilepsy are some of the conditions that may preclude you from diving.

Certified Dive: Certified divers are required to produce their Certification Cards upon boarding, and sign paperwork stating they are mentally and physically fit to dive. The diving is conducted in buddy pairs, with guided diving with a dive master available as an optional extra.

It is within walking distance to the Queen Street Mall shopping precinct, Treasury Casino, South Bank Parklands, Queensland Performing Arts Centre. (Day 11) - Day Tour, Australia Zoo

Travel along the Glasshouse Mountains scenic route 2 hours North of Brisbane to the Wildlife Park of the famous Crocodile Hunter (Steve Irwin) at the Australia Zoo.


You will be taken directly to and from the Wildlife Park and have nearly 6 hours to experience the best of the zoo. Take in the many daily shows and demonstrations where you can see exciting snakes, birds and crocodiles in action! The “Call of the Wild” experience leads you to Steve’s home and over 550 animals that you would only expect to see in the wilds of Australia. Experience a truly remarkable day as you watch a demonstration featuring wild crocodiles.


Meet Amelia, the Wedged-Tailed Eagle and other birds of prey. Watch the small clawed otters frolic and Harriet, the world’s oldest giant Galapagos land tortoise, as they feed. Encounter cuddly Koalas close up and join in the feeding of the kangaroos and wallabies. This is a day to experience the pleasures of the wild and watch very experienced professional handlers get close to extremely dangerous creatures. Don’t miss the opportunity to take a photo with a snake at the Croc Hunter Museum or see the wild caught croc demo. Keep your eyes out for handlers walking through the park with the animals so you can get “up close and personal”. With many more shows including foxes, camels, otters, koalas and birds you’re sure to have a wild time!
